"Hesperides" Retirement Home in Grevenmacher
Mulhern & Steil project.
The owner of the land resisted the temptation to integrate it into a subdivision under construction to the north and west of its limits. He had the idea of taking advantage of this unique location, bordered to the east by a vineyard above which there were views towards the Moselle and Germany.
We designed a protected building, with a single and guarded entrance, but which gave the impression of a charming ensemble in which the resident-owners could age peacefully with dignity. Something less easy to do in retirement homes too often built to look like slaughterhouses or factories.
The project was ready to build when, due to problems with the land, the owner was forced to sell the land with the authorized project to a real estate developer.
Unfortunately, and for lack of inspiration, the developer redesigned all the buildings into apartment houses, before building a complex that looks a bit like our project, but only seen from the other side of the Moselle.
