Residence "Le Parisien II" in Esch-sur-Alzette

Project by Mulhern & Steil between 1993-1995. 

A local real estate developer asked us to design a building with 8 apartments in Esch-sur-Alzette. The land was located between a residence under construction at the time and an apartment building dating from the sixties.

During the authorization procedure this project received a negative opinion from the commission who ensures the protection of the architectural heritage because it "did not harmonize with the 2 neighboring buildings".

Far from being nostalgic, we tried not to harmonize with these buildings because our eyes were already turned towards a better future in which they would be demolished, and the new constructions would be forced to harmonize with ours.
