Farm House in Weiler-la-Tour

The owners of this beautiful dwelling had asked us to extend their farmhouse and add a new barn with two workers' dwellings.

The farm is located a stone's throw from the church in the heart of Weiler-la-Tour, and the challenge was to create an ensemble that is in harmony with the existing farm and to contribute to the beautification of the village center.

The new buildings are built of insulating masonry with Luxembourgish vernacular details. The oak arches were recovered during the demolition of the old building and used as a loggia to help preserve the memory of the place.

The farm yard has been completely clad with old paving stones in Luxembourgish sandstone.

This project received an "Urban Infill Award for Excellence in Urban Design" at the United Nations Congress of the New Urbanism Awards in June 2014.
