Ping-Pong in Fingig

The old school and sports buildings beside the parish church in Fingig were to be demolished and replaced by a prefabricated sports hall, until fortunately the decision was taken to restore them in order to preserve the rural character of the village centre.

I was asked to combine the 1st floors ant attics of both buildings into a single hall for the use of the local table-tennis club.

As it would prove extremely difficult to thermally insulate the existing roof structures it was decided to replace them with a new elegant structure that would provide a singular identity to the new hall.

All new elements were designed in a traditional manner to respect the historical character of the existing building and to avoid conflict with the elements that were to be restored.
